Appropriate Use of the Chemistry Department's Computing Resources
The department applies the "appropriate use" policies of the
University of California, and those used by
Bruin Online.
This allows for incidental personal use of the departments computing resources.
This use does not include:
- any form of commercial activity, for profit or otherwise, or for personal gain or profit.
- any form of copyright abuse (e.g. downloading, storing, or distributing
MP3s or other audio-visual material, pirated software, etc. ).
Fair Use is permitted.
- downloading, distributing, or storing materials which are unlawful,
including child pornography and obscenity. Note that it is criminal to
merely possess child pornography.
Minor infractions will be handled discretely. Continued abuse, or
unlawful behaviour will be dealt with in an appropriate manner.
