Where are they now? Former
graduate student Thuc-Quyen Nguyen, Ph.D. 2001, is currently Asst.
Professor of Physical Chemitry at UC Santa Barbara. Former
graduate student Erik Barthel, Ph.D. 2003, is currently in medical
school at USC. Former graduate student Jay Smallwood, Ph.D. 2005,
is currently teaching ESL as part of the JET program in Japan.
Former postdoc Ignacio Martini is now the Assistant Director of the
UCLA Molecular Instrumentation Center in charge of Materials
Research. Former undergraduate student Sean Roberts is presently
a graduate student at MIT in Andrei
Tokmakoff's group. Former graduate student De'en Jiang
received his Ph.D. from Emily
Carter's group (now at Princeton). Will Molenkamp, a former
joint graduate student with Sarah Tolbert,
is now working full time in the Tolbert group. Former gradaute
student Peter Nishimura is currently transferring to the Materials
Science Ph.D. program at UCSB. Former graduate student Alex Smith
is presently working for a start-up in the LA area on semiconducting
polymer-based devices. Former graduate student Damian Aherne is
presently employed in trhe chemical industry in Texas. Former
graduate students Vu Tran and Vinh Doan are presently employed in the
software industry.
