The research project I am working on is to develop mechanized silica nanoparticles by surface grafting of functional groups or by surface coating of biocompatible polymers. The mechanized nanoparticles are then used for both in vitro and in vivo delivery of drugs and siRNA for therapeutic purposes. The particles are designed to have controlled release properties under certain stimuli, and the particles can be made more therapeutically powerful by combining their drug and siRNA delivery abilities.
