Sample preparation for proteomics and MALDI-MS
An in-line sample purification method for MALDI-MS on a digital microfluidics platform has been previously developed by our group. In continuation of the work and in an attempt to develop a fully integrated proteomics device, we have successfully demonstrated integration of three protein processing steps prior to MALDI-MS analysis: reduction, alkylation and enzymatic digestion. This method is faster and results in lower reagent consumption and sample loss than conventional techniques for proteomics sample preparation. This is the first fully integrated digital microfluidics proteomic analysis platform. This method has the potential for use in high-throughput proteomics.
