Program Description
The Chemistry and Biochemistry
Undergraduate Summer Research Program offers UCLA undergraduates the opportunity
to carry out research with a Chemistry or Biochemistry faculty mentor during
the summer. The mentor must agree to supervise the student during the summer.
Program Dates
The program begins
Eligibility
Applicants should be students
pursuing a degree in a life science, physical science, or engineering major
at UCLA. Students interested in pursuing graduate degrees (Masters, Ph.D.) are
strongly encouraged to apply.
Program Expectations
Participants are required
to complete the entire 10-week program. The research objectives of the program
are substantial and require full-time student commitment.
Due to the time commitment
of this program, participants should not plan to attend summer school or have
another job during the duration of the program.
At the end of the program,
all participants are required to submit a report describing his/her research.
Award
Participants will receive
$350 per week for the duration of the program ($3500 total).
How To
Apply
A complete application must include the following:
1. A complete Student Application Form.
2. Personal statements (see application form).
3. An unofficial copy of the applicant’s transcript(s) (including Winter grades).
4. One Letter of Recommendation from the applicant’s faculty sponsor assessing the applicant’s ability for academic research.
