Dear
Prospective Applicant:
We
are pleased that you are interested in graduate study in Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA.
Please read all of the
information below very carefully!!!
The
application deadline is January
15. Admissions are
limited to the FALL QUARTER.
Along
with a UCLA Graduate
Admissions application, you must also submit a departmental application for
our department. If you have questions about the application process please
contact the Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry Graduate Office.
GRE
General Test scores are required; GRE Subject Test scores are also REQUIRED for international applicants.
Acceptable GRE Subject Exams include Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology and
Physics. Due to possible delays in transmittal of test results, we would
suggest that these tests be taken as early as possible (i.e. in October). A
photocopy or self-reported scores will suffice until the official score report
is received in our office.
Application
Fee for International Applicants is currently $80. There are NO fee waivers.

REQUIRED
TESTS
GRE (General AND Subject tests) – There
are no minimum score requirements for these exams.
TOEFL –
Minimum score of 600 (paper based
test)
Minimum score of 250 (computer based
test)
Minimum score of 100 (iBT version)
TSE (Test of Spoken English) - Minimum
score of 45 is required.
PLEASE NOTE: Applicants MUST achieve either a passing score of 45 on the TSE or a 24 on the TOEFL iBT speaking portion.
ADMITTED
STUDENTS ARE STILL REQUIRED TO TAKE THE UCLA LANGUAGE EXAM ONCE IN THE UNITED
STATES (Only those who score a 50 on the TSE are exempt).
