| Former Foote group members will display and discuss scientific posters of their current work, and everyone will have an opportunity to get together and discuss the past, present, and future with a light buffet and drinks provided. Chris and his wife, Judi Smith, were patrons of several music societies, including the Los Angeles Opera, the Da Camera Society, and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. To celebrate their mutual love of music, Judi has arranged for a concert of Christopher's favorite music, including Bach and Mozart. The concert will be held on Friday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Schoenberg Auditorium at UCLA and is open to the public. view Concert Program |

| Chemists Harry Wasserman, Joan Valentine, Chris Rhodes, Alec Greer, Ed Clennan, David Schuster, Peter Ogilby, Cynthia Burrows and Ken Houk will speak at the symposium featuring the chemistry of oxygen and celebrating the scientific discoveries of Christopher Foote and his group. A luncheon, sponsored by Thomson Brooks/Cole Learning, will focus on Christopher's contributions to education and textbook writing. The Symposium will be held from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM in CS24, Young Hall, at UCLA. LUNCHEON will be at 12:15 in the Charles E. Young Grand Salon at Kirckhoff Hall. RESERVATIONS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL. Christopher's faculty colleagues in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, along with many other campus leaders who worked with him, will celebrate his many contributions to UCLA. The inaugural awardee of The Christopher S. Foote Graduate Fellowship in Organic Chemistry will also be announced. Reception begins at 6:00 PM in the Grand Horizon Ballroom at Covel Commons on the UCLA campus. SEE PROGRAM
There are three entree choices to choose from and these must be selected in advance. The choices are:
Grilled Amalfi Salmon - Grilled filet of fresh Pacific salmon with ginger citrus sauce, served with herbed orzo and sauteed ......asparagus
Mayan Banana-Wrapped Chicken - boneless chicken breast filled with cotija cheese, rubbed with achiote paste and ......baked.in banana leaves. Served with cilantro rice and grilled seasonal vegetables
Vegetarian.
For those who need transportation from CS24 to Covel Commons, there will be a bus waiting on Young Drive East near CS 24. This bus will also take people who need transportation back to their Westwood hotels afterward.
Parking: Admission is free but parking is $8. Enter campus from Hilgard Avenue turning onto the Westholme entrance. The easiest way to get to CS24 is to enter Young Hall
On Saturday October 15, inform the kiosk attendant that you are here for the Foote Memorial Symposium. You will be issued a 2-Blue parking pass good for entry both into Lot 2 for the day time event, and into the parking structure next to Covel Commons. If you enter UCLA and park in Lot 2 during the day, YOU MUST KEEP YOUR PARKING PASS in order to enjoy free parking in the parking structure next to Covel Commons that evening.
