To become a member of Alpha Chi Sigma, you must complete the Pledging
process. Some aspects of this process are common to all chapters of Alpha
Chi Sigma, and some are unique to Beta Gamma Chapter. The following are
Beta Gamma's requirements for pledging:
- Have completed, or be currently enrolled in, Chem 14BL or 20L or the
equivalent.
- Have completed, or be currently enrolled in, Chem 14B or 20B or the
equivalent.
- Plan to have a career in a chemistry-related field.
- Attend the Pinning Ceremony and pay the pledge fee.
- Learn the Fraternity and Chapter histories.
- Attend a weekly pledge meeting.
- Visit the Alpha Chi Sigma Lounge regularly to meet active members.
- Make an axe and get signatures from members.
- Plan and present a 5-minute talk on an aspect of Chemistry.
- Pay the Lifetime Membership Fee.
- Attend 'Research Day'.
We accept pledges for the Fall or Spring quarters. The process is a
full quarter commitment, and should be taken seriously. However, we also
plan plenty of social activities so you can get to know everyone and have
fun!
