The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA mourns the loss of William J. Hanson, a former student and benefactor of the Department.
Bill received his AB in Chemistry in 1941 and his MS in 1943 with Tom Jacobs. Bill worked for Dow Chemical for many years and was responsible for establishing the Hanson-Dow Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1984. This award is given annuallky at the Departmental Awards Ceremony in October.
The family and close friends will be holding a memorial service for Bill at which the department will be represented.
