ACCOMMODATIONS IN CHURCHILL CANADA
Visitors to the northern Manitoba wilderness around churchill have a choice of three basic types of accommodation.
Camping out is dangerous and probably illegal.
Although Polar bears are most numerous in late fall, they can be seen and encountered at all times of year. Last July, NOT polar bear season, we experienced 16 bear sightings in 11 days. One couple, living for the summer in a cabin on the Churchill Northern Studies Centre grounds, found one of the big white furballs watching them through one of their windows. Although polar bears are not particularly vicious, and do not consider humans particularly delicious prey, they are unpredictable. Your life may depend upon whether or a bear you encounter happens to be in a good or bad mood. More on that in Basics of Polar Bear Safety.
