GRADUATE ADMISSIONS

Introduction

Dear Prospective Applicant:

We are pleased that you are interested in graduate work in Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA.

The preferred deadline for consideration of fellowships is December 15; otherwise the preferred deadline is January 15. Both deadlines are for entrance for the following Fall Quarter. However, late applications will be considered if positions are available. Admissions are normally limited to the FALL QUARTER.

UCLA now offers an online service to apply to the graduate program. You must also submit a departmental application for our department. If you have questions about the application process please contact the Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry Graduate Office.

Students receiving their undergraduate education at a foreign university must submit GRE general and advanced test scores. These tests are also strongly recommended for students residing in the United States, but are not required. Due to possible delays in transmittal of test results, we would suggest that these tests be taken as early as possible (i.e. in October). The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score is required, and the Test of Spoken English is strongly recommended, for international students whose first language is not English. Please arrange to have your official GRE, TOEFL, and TSE scores sent to our department directly.

The admissions committee requires the following application materials to be submitted directly to the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry:

A discription of each part of the supplemental application will follow. Mail these materials to this address:
