Illustrated Glossary of Organic Chemistry

Ammonia (1) NH3. The simplest amine, and a modest base (NH4+ pKa = 9.4). When liquid (ammonia has bp -33 oC), occasionally used as a polar (ε = 25 at -59 oC) protic solvent for example in a Birch reduction.
