Cal mauls Washington on November 15, 2003
After beating Washington for the first time in 26 years in '02, the showdown in '03 was a comedy. Cal's gained a mind-boggling 729 total yards under 2nd year coach Jeff Tedford, routing Washington 54-7, en route to Cal's first Bowl appearance since 1995. Jason Kidd's Jersey is retired by University of California on February 14, 2004
The greatest basketball player ever to put on a Cal uniform, 7-time NBA All-Star, 5-time First Team all-NBA, and one of the greatest point guard ever to play the game of basketball, Jason Kidd had his jersey retired by Cal before the game against Stanford. Cal defeats UCLA on October 16, 2004
Avenging the overtime loss to UCLA from previous year, Cal racked up 550 yards of total offense to defeat the Bruins 45-28, while keeping the Rose Bowl hope alive under 3rd year coach Jeff Tedford, who has rapidly transformed Cal into a national football power. Cal escapes with a victory against Oregon on November 6, 2004
Speical team miscues and soft defense in the 1st half gave the Bears a major scare agasint Oregon. In the end, JJ Arrington was his usual self, gaining 188 yards for his 8th straight 100-yard game and averaging over 7 yards per carry. Cal pulled out 28-27, keeping the Rose Bowl hope alive. Cal goes to 9-1 after winning the Big Game 41-6 on November 20, 2004
After dominating arch rival Stanford with 307 rushing yards, a day when JJ Arrington broke Cal's single season rushing record, and Geoff McArthur broke Cal's all-time reception record, the Cal fans are smelling the Roses.
