Classical and Statistical Thermodynamics
        "It (thermodynamics) is the only physical theory of universal content which I am convinced, that within the framework of applicability of its basic concepts will never be overthrown." -- Albert Einstein.
        Considered as a field of classical physics, the basic laws of thermodynamics, in layman's term, states that things (matter or energy) cannot be created out of nothing, and you cannot destroy anything into nothingness. It is within these constraints, and when combined with mathematics and modern science, the power of thermodynamics is realized in the prediction and explanation in the behaviors of numerous equilibrium systems.
 

Statistical Mechanics and Stochasticity
        Another field of classical physics (negligible quantum mechanical and relativistic effects), it is inseparable from thermodynamics. With the simple assumption of stochasticity (interacting or non-interacting), statistical mechanics is able to reach elegant and powerful conclusions predicting the behaviors of a bulk system from behaviors of a single particle. The power of statistical mechanics is not limited to equilibrium systems.
 

Biophysics
        Greatly aided by thermodynamics and statistical mechanics, many seemingly complicated biological processes can in fact be explained by stochastic processes. This field is the offspring of physicists and biologists, to explain complex phenomena in the most fundamental terms. Although new in its existence, it is also considered classical physics, due to biology's lack of noticeable or measurable quantum mechanical and relativistic effects in its processes.
 

Special and General Relativity
        Perhaps the first attempt at modern cosmology, the theory of relativity wildly changed the way men viewed nature. The absoluteness of time and space is forever altered. For the first time, space and time become alterable parameters.
 

Quantum Mechanics
        Its significance parallels with the theory of relativity, it has forever altered men's view of the nature of matter, energy, and the limit of the power of science.
