The name Lamborghini has been synonymous with exotic sports car ever since the radically-designed Countach came out in 1973. Actually, the Countach project was initiated in 1969 to replace the Miura, Lamborghini's speedster at that time which sported a V-12 that traveled from 0 to 60 at 5.5 seconds, lightning quick for its time. I remember my first Matchbox die-cast car was a red Lamborghini Countach, and I've been in love with it ever since. I've actually seen a few Countachs being driven around town; a red one and a shiny new black beauty. The diablo is the heir apparent to the Countach, and it is as beautiful and as fast as the legend it replaces. The Diablo SE Jota has a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds, making it the fastest of the Lamborghinis. I have read somewhere about the Diablo Twin Turbo, which has a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and an incredible 700 horsepowers, with a price tag of $500K. Anyone know more information, or did I just dream this up? For an informative history of Lamborghini, take a look at the official web site.
