POLAR BEAR EVACUATION

Revised 12/20/96

Problem bears who intrude into town are captured and held for no more than 22 days (during late fall) in a giant quonset hut variously known as "Polar Bear Compound, "The Polar Bear Prison" or "The Polar Bear Jail." In these pictures, two well-drugged polar bears are being brought out of the polar bear jail and airlifted to be released further north.
