Tristan Rose

While at UC Davis, Tristan worked for Dr. John Newman investigating mammalian oxylipin profiles by LC/MS/MS. He also worked for Dr. Bruce Hammock investigating structure-activity relationships and in vivo performance of urea-based soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitors - a potential new class of anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective drugs.

Ryan Hollibaugh

While attending Emory Univeristy, Ryan worked with Dr. Julia Kubanek and Dr. Mark Hay at Georgia Tech on the isolation and structural elucidation of new bioactive natural products from Fijian algae and invertebrates. He has also worked with Dr. Mary Ann Moran at the University of Georgia on the microbiology of some members of the Roseobacter clade of marine bacteria.

Jack Bracken

Jack's undergraduate research included building organic linkers for gold nanoparticles in the Molecular Machines Group (run by Dr. Joseph M. Jacobsen) at the MIT Media Lab, synthesizing organozinc complexes under Dr. Joseph Sadighi, and constructing fluorescence-mediated chemical sensors of nitric oxide in Dr. Stephen Lippard's laboratory.  After graduating he stayed in Cambridge, MA and worked consecutively for Neogenesis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Schering-Plough Research Institute, and finally Merck Research Laboratories. In these three companies he specialized in solid-phase synthesis and traditional medicinal chemistry, developing drug screening hits into viable lead candidates for a variety of therapeutic targets.  He now resides in sunny California, a UCLA graduate student and researcher in the Harran Group.

Robert Jordan

Robert's undergraduate research with Prof. Don Deardorff included working on an enantioselective synthesis of the alpha-glycosidase inhibitor DAB-1 that used a key enzyme catalysis step to form alpha-beta unsaturated cyanohydrins with Enantiomeric Excess (e.e.) in greater than 95%.

While attending University of Oregon, Jim worked under the supervision of Professor Mike Haley on the synthesis of vinylcyclopropene ligands used in the study of metallabenzenes and their valence isomers. In 2005, Jim joined the research group of Professor Larry Overman. His PhD work focused on the synthesis and applications of new palladacyclic complexes in asymmetric reactions catalyzed by palladium(II).

While attending University of Salerno, Italy in 2007, Marisabella worked on an experimental thesis titled “Validation of method GC-C-IRMS for the research of exogen steroids”, performed at the Antidoping Laboratory of Rome, under the supervision of Prof. Gianluca Sbardella. She then worked on a Ph.D. thesis titled “Design, synthesis and biological evaluation of a new series of dihydrothieno[2,3-g and 3,2-g]quinolin-4,9-dione (DTQQ) derivatives as potential antitumoral drugs”, under the supervision of Prof. Sabrina Castellano.
